About HANBF
Nearly two decades of building bridges between Haiti and America, rooted in heritage, driven by purpose.
Our Founding
The Haitian American Network and Business Foundation was founded in 2006 in Spring Valley, New York, by Vladimir Leon, MSSM, a native of Saint-Marc, Haiti, the birthplace of Jean Baptiste Point Du Sable, builder of Chicago.
What began as a community-centered effort to unite Haitian Americans around economic development and cultural empowerment has grown into a globally recognized dual-nation organization, now headquartered at 7200 Marsden Street, Philadelphia, PA 19135.
In 2025, HANBF was officially recognized by the Ministry of Haitian Affairs and Diaspora (MAHVE) as the Global Haitian Diaspora Organization, a milestone nearly two decades in the making.

Our Heritage
Born in Saint-Marc, Haiti, the same city as HANBF's founder, Du Sable is now officially recognized as the builder of Chicago. His legacy is a cornerstone of HANBF's identity and proof that Haitian roots run deep in American history.
Honored by the Roman Catholic Church, Pierre Toussaint distinguished himself in service to the Church and American society. His life of selfless giving mirrors the values at the heart of every HANBF initiative.
Haiti's 1804 independence was the first Black republic in the world and a declaration that freedom belongs to all people. HANBF carries this spirit forward, investing in Haiti's future while honoring its extraordinary past.
These are not footnotes. They are the foundation of who we are.
Our Mission
HANBF operates at the intersection of Haitian heritage and American opportunity, building lasting systems across both nations.
Sustainable farming, land management, and food security across Haiti.
Bridging the digital divide through tech access, communications, and youth programs.
Building homes, roads, and infrastructure for thriving Haitian communities.
Preserving Haiti's natural resources and promoting sustainable ecosystems.
Reeducating youth and creating pathways to employment across Haiti and the Diaspora.
Building communications networks that connect Haiti to the world and the Diaspora to home.
Our Structure
HANBF operates under a dual-body governance framework designed for accountability, transparency, and long-term mission integrity.
Strategic Leadership Body
The Great Governing Council is HANBF's highest decision-making authority. Comprised of 11 members, this body sets the strategic direction of the organization, approves major initiatives, and ensures alignment with HANBF's dual-nation mission.
Accountability & Compliance Body
The Internal Review Board serves as HANBF's independent oversight body. Its 7 members ensure all operations, investments, and partnerships meet the legal and ethical standards required by both US and Haitian law.
All investment partnerships and operational agreements are subject to review by both governance bodies before execution. HANBF operates in accordance with US State Department guidelines and the laws of both the United States and the Republic of Haiti.
