About HANBF

Our Story, Our Mission,
Our People

Nearly two decades of building bridges between Haiti and America, rooted in heritage, driven by purpose.

Our Founding

Born in 2006.
Recognized Globally in 2025.

The Haitian American Network and Business Foundation was founded in 2006 in Spring Valley, New York, by Vladimir Leon, MSSM, a native of Saint-Marc, Haiti, the birthplace of Jean Baptiste Point Du Sable, builder of Chicago.

What began as a community-centered effort to unite Haitian Americans around economic development and cultural empowerment has grown into a globally recognized dual-nation organization, now headquartered at 7200 Marsden Street, Philadelphia, PA 19135.

In 2025, HANBF was officially recognized by the Ministry of Haitian Affairs and Diaspora (MAHVE) as the Global Haitian Diaspora Organization, a milestone nearly two decades in the making.

Our Heritage

250 Years of Haitian American Legacy

Jean Baptiste Point Du Sable

Born in Saint-Marc, Haiti, the same city as HANBF's founder, Du Sable is now officially recognized as the builder of Chicago. His legacy is a cornerstone of HANBF's identity and proof that Haitian roots run deep in American history.

Pierre Toussaint

Honored by the Roman Catholic Church, Pierre Toussaint distinguished himself in service to the Church and American society. His life of selfless giving mirrors the values at the heart of every HANBF initiative.

Haiti's Independence, 1804

Haiti's 1804 independence was the first Black republic in the world and a declaration that freedom belongs to all people. HANBF carries this spirit forward, investing in Haiti's future while honoring its extraordinary past.

These are not footnotes. They are the foundation of who we are.
